Advent & New Beginnings

O COME, O COME EMMANUEL

The  penitential season of Advent marks the beginning of the new liturgical  year in the Church — a time of new beginnings, of hopeful expectation,  of deep trust in the God Who loves us and provides for His children,  even through the darkest hours. His greatest gift was sending us the  Messiah, the Savior, Jesus Christ.

As  many of you know, it is a time of new beginnings for us here at Stella  Maris Media. Our motto is "Bringing hope to a world in need." We hope  that this little media enterprise will contribute, in its own small way,  to bringing the light of Christ to a world in darkness, a world in  need, longing for truth, yearning for the Love above all loves.

We  thank those of you who have generously contributed, spiritually or  financially. We especially covet your prayers, which are the divine  currency that unlocks the heart of God and obtains a shower of graces.

In  this season of quiet waiting for the Christ Child, we wish you and your  loved ones God's peace and joy. May He repay you tenfold for your  kindness!

God bless you,

Christine Niles

About Stella Maris Media

Illustration of Our Lady, Star of the Sea (Stella Maris)

Our vision

The name Stella Maris has its roots in a 5th-century translation by St. Jerome of the Hebrew name for Mary, Miryam. Originally written as Stilla Maris, it meant "Drop of the Sea." Through what likely stemmed from a transcription error, this evolved into Stella Maris, which means "Star of the Sea."

This title has been cherished in Catholic tradition, especially among seafarers before modern navigation, as they relied on the stars to guide them. Notably, the North Star, Polaris, was also known as Stella Maris.

Beyond just seafarers, Stella Maris serves as a beacon for all of life’s travelers, illuminating the darkness and offering hope as it cuts through the fog, guiding us toward the bright shores of eternity.

"Bringing hope to a world in need."
