The fire in California is wreaking devastation on thousands of homes and lives, and still burning uncontrollably.
In the midst of the ruins, standing on the mound of ash that was once their home, one family did something startling: They chose to praise God.
The only possessions that remained standing amidst the rubble of their home were a charred statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a statue of St. Joseph.
And so in the midst of their devastation, this family chose — not to curse and complain — but to praise God, and to sing a hymn of thanks to Our Lady.
